The Best Free VST Plug ins.

Now to the part of the advice where everything is completely free.

Most studios these days operate on a VST only system. I also fall into that category when it comes to producing. There is of course those who swear only to use hardware, which is great also, but the real truth is that the dance floor doesn't care about how its made or what its made from. As long as you make a good track who cares where the sound has originated from?

So with that in mind I am going to show you the best free VST plug ins for Synthesizers in this next part.  I have made a few videos demonstrating some of these over the last couple of years, but a few are now redundant due to them being 32 bit compatible. Nowadays producers and DAW developers are working in 64 bit. But that said you can get a piece of software called J-Bridge which acts as a converter for 32 bit software to work with 64 bit. I have tried this and it does slow things down in my experience so I can not comment on it any further. But here are 64 bit free VST packages that are free and usable in 2018.

U-HE TYRELL SYNTHESIZER 

This synth is astounding and has so many options to tweak and refine the pre-sets that are built within. It is multi genre friendly and you can use this if you produce Techno, Soul, Disco, Ambient or Drum & Bass. It has so many pre-sets and you can really get lost it this for hours. OBXD SYNTHESIZER

Again a fantastic piece of freeware that is perfect for making 80;s retro music but overall has the capability to produce anything that you like. I made a video on this a while back on how to produce a boogie track with it and it comes out as one of the best I have found for free. 

Packed with tons of free pre-sets from heavy bass to lush pads and sound effects, this is always in use within my own productions. Check the video below and to download it click HERE

RAVE GENERATOR V2

Fancy making music that resembles the late 80s and early 90s Techno Rave styles? 

Then be sure to grab this bad boy for your tunes. Painstakingly put together as what must be a labour of love for the old skool, this synth has literally all of the iconic sounds from those records we all loved so much back in the day. From the ear crushing synth of the Dominator track, to the Detroit stabs of Inner City. This is a solid machine and is really invaluable not only as a good synth but for also keeping the original sounds alive in future productions. COBALT SYNTHESIZER

Having demonstrated above specialist plug ins, the synth here is for the more straight forward standard MIDI sounds. This has all of the traditional sounds you would expect from a keyboard. So if you were looking for a nice simple pad then this is the synth to go for. 

You can get some very nice lead synths and bass sounds on here too. But overall it is designed for quick access to a range of standard sounds. But it is also capable of some fine tweaking to create original s pre-sets also. Watch the video below and click HERE for download.

TAL UNO JUNO REPLICA

The classic Roland Juno synth has long been a firm favourite amongst producers and performers alike. This free VST replica from the TAL developers is a solid machine with all of the pre-sets built in that you would expect for an early 80's keyboard. You can create some stunning bass sounds and make some impressive changes to the pads that are built within. It is worth checking out the other range fo free plug in effects and replica synths that TAL have created, as they are very good indeed. Overall a very good replica of an iconic keyboard. BPB CASSETTE DRUM MACHINE 808 909 REPLICA

Its common knowledge for people in the music production industry to know that the Roland line of drum machines are the ones which have stood the test of time and also are responsible for some of the most inconic electronic music records in history. In fact almost every dance and pop track you have heard have more than likely had a 909 hi hats or kick drum in the mix or an iconic 808 cowbell sample thrown in. This machine here is a great free addition to anyones studio setup and comes with a variety of sample banks for you to explore.
